How to keep the fat away:

5-6 Smaller Meals Per Day: You may think that you if you cut back on your eating and eat less, you'll lose weight faster.  I'm sorry but that's not how it works.  You're going to have to eat 5 to 6 meals a day in order to lose weight.  I know it's sounds crazy, but it's true!  I know that sometimes that something will pop up and you'll miss a meal.  That's okay.  It happens.  Just try to eat ASAP to get your metabolism up again.

Now just because you're eating 5 to 6 meals a day doesn't mean that you can pig out every meal.  You must pay attention to the portions of food you're eating.  I use a measuring cup to measure my portions.  If you do it enough then you'll be able to judge how much to eat without a measure cup or a food scale.

Drink plenty of water: How much water do you need?  I've read that you're supposed
to drink Eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day.  That equals to to 64 oz a day.  That's
about average, but you can't expect a 120lb person and a 220 pound person to drink
the same about of water a day.  You should drink on average 1oz of water per
kilogram of bodyweight.  Well...how do I figure out my body weight in kilograms?
Multiply the number of pounds by 0.4535923744953.

Get plenty of exercise:  I can't stress enough on how important regular exercise is to
your body.

Do not skip meals: If you're not used to eating breakfast then now is the time to start.
The second you put food in your body is when you metabolism will start to speed up.  If
you starve yourself and eat less then the opposite will happen.  Some people go about
it the wrong way by eating less or by starving themselves.  Your body thinks that there
is a shortage of food.  Your body’s metabolism will slow down and your body will start
to store fat.  It’s protecting itself.  Your body doesn't’t know the difference. Eventually
you will have to eat again.  The next time you eat your body will store more fat because
your body thinks that it’s starving.

Controlling your Sweet Tooth: If you have a sweet tooth (such as myself) it's going to
be tough.  You have to fight the temptations to reach your goal.  If you must have
something sweet (such as sweet tea) then try to sub your sugar with Equal or Splenda.

Try to stay away from condiments: I know that some of you may love that ham or turkey sandwich with mayo, but please try to stay away from condiments.  If you must have condiments then at least sub your mayo with mustard.  Most condiments have a lot of sodium and sugar.  Cut down on the sodium.  Sodium can cause you to bloat and can make your stomach actually look flabbier than it really is. Example:

Mayo
- Sodium = 125 mg
- Coolest = 5 mg
- Carbs = 2 gm
- Sugar = 2 gm

Mustard
- Sodium = 65 mg
- Cholest = 0 mg
- Carbs = 0 gm
- Sugar = 0 gm
