ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi,
My name is Johnny Lozano. I'm 35 years old and I currently live in Irving, TX.
I'm a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I'm the 2008 Dallas Golden Gloves
Champion (152/Welterweight Division). I've also done some acting. I was on
13 episodes of Prison Break/Season 3, and I've done a couple local commercials.
I also play the guitar for a popular local Dallas band.
MY STRUGGLE
I've been struggling with my weight since I was 23 years old. Prior to that age I was able to eat anything and everything without gaining any weight. All of sudden my metabolism shifted gears and slowed down. I went from 150lbs to 185lbs within a couple of years. I'm only 5'7. 185 is pretty big for 5'7. Several things contributed to my weight gain. My age, my desk job, and lack of exercise.
In December 2000 I decided to get active again, so I enrolled in Jui-Jitsu lessons at Mohler Jiu-Jitsu. Within 10 months I lost about 15lbs. I was feeling great, but it didn't last very long. I decided to go back to school in Jan 2002. I was working at a full-time desk job, and taking 15 hours of classes a week. I went from working out 4-5 days a week to about once a week (due to my hectic schedule). That's when my bad eating habits took place. I never made time to cook. I was eating fast food at least twice a day. My weight shot back up to 175lbs.
Well...I finished school, and I started working out on a regular basis again. My weight stabilized between 168-170lbs. No matter what I tried I still wasn't able to get down to 150lbs again.
MY QUEST TO SIX PACK ABS!
I began to get frustrated and I almost gave up. I made friends with a personal trainer on the set of Prison Break in the Fall of 2007. This guy was 42 years old, and he had the body of a guy in his mid-twenties. I told him about my struggle and what I wanted to do. He asked me about my workout schedule, eating habits, and my goals.
I told him that I did Jiu-Jitsu 2 days a week, boxing 3 times a week, and body exercises 3 times a week. I also told him that I ate 3 big meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). My goal was to get down 150lbs. The 2008 Dallas Golden Gloves was several months away, and I wanted to compete in the 152lb weight division. He told me that Jiu-Jitsu would increase my cardio, but it would not help me lose weight. It would help me lose some weight, but not much. That's when he told me that I had to eat 5-6 Smaller Meals Per Day. He also talked about getting into my Fat Burning Zone" in order to lose weight.
So...he wrote down some meal examples for me. I had to cut out all sodas, junk food (burgers, pizzas, buffalo wings, fries, burritos, and hotdog's). He told me that I needed to do at least 45 to 60 min's of slow cardio to get in my "Fat Burning Zone". He wrote down a math formula for me to calculate my water intake per day.
So in combination with my boxing workout I began jogging every morning (on an empty stomach) for 45-60 min's 5 times a week. I started with the meal examples he gave me, and started drinking more water. I was amazed how much weight I lost! I went from 170lbs to 154lbs within 6 weeks! I had my first boxing match in DEC 2007 and won my fight! It was time to get ready for the Golden Gloves. I kept with the program and I dropped another 9 pounds for weigh ins in Jan 2008. I weighed in at 145lbs! I lost a total of 25lbs! I haven't weighed this much since High School! Now my weight is stabilized between 147 and 150lbs.
WHY I CREATED THIS SITE
All my friends were amazed on how much weight I had lost and wanted to know "my secret". The most asked question I was asked was, "Was it hard?" Yes it was hard! Nothing comes easy. My response was "Either you want it, or you don't! There's no in between."
I was always sending my friends e-mails on how to lose weight. They were always asking questions about diet and exercise. That's when I decided I needed to create a website that answered all their questions. They could just visit my site to get most of their answers. Now I can share my knowledge with the world!
Just eat right, get in your fat burning zone, and you'll be on your way to SIX PACK ABS!
